Following high school graduation, Cameron enrolled Professional Culinary School at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. For a full year, he immersed himself in the world of professional cooking, dedicating his time and energy to mastering the culinary arts. After completing the program, Cameron went on to work as a professional cook for several years. This experience allowed him to refine his culinary skills and gain valuable insight into the art of creating delicious meals. While Cameron thoroughly enjoyed cooking, especially when it involved crafting nutritious dishes, he realized that a career in professional cooking wasn’t his true calling. Nonetheless, Cameron’s culinary experience gives him a unique perspective and enhances his ability to guide others in making nutritious choices in the kitchen. Whether it’s recommending healthy cooking techniques, suggesting flavorful ingredient combinations, or assisting in meal planning.
Nutrition has always played a significant role in Cameron’s life, but its importance truly took center stage when he became a commercial pilot. As a pilot health becomes paramount. Regular medical and health checks are necessary to maintain a pilot’s license. Unfortunately, the lifestyle of a pilot is not conducive to optimal health. As time passed, he noticed unwanted weight gain, and escalating levels of blood pressure and cholesterol, despite healthy eating and maintaining an active lifestyle. Eventually, his doctor prescribed blood pressure and cholesterol medication. This prompted him to take charge of his well-being and seek a different solution. Determined not to rely solely on medication, he embarked on a personal quest for knowledge, delving into extensive research to understand nutrition’s impact on his health.
During this pursuit, Cameron realized that even with what he believed to be a reasonable level of nutritional knowledge, the abundance of conflicting information on the internet left him feeling perplexed. It was a daunting experience, and the thought of others facing the same confusion struck a chord. This inspired him to become a nutritionist and dedicate himself to guiding others on their health journeys.
Cameron’s lifelong physical fitness journey began during his childhood with soccer and persisted through his early teens where he transitioned to martial arts, and like many young men, he embraced the gym culture. As he became older, his passion of physical well-being persisted and expanded encompassing pursuits such as rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, adventure racing, sailing and any other outdoor activities that came his way. He also pursued indoor physical endeavors such as lap swimming, traditional weightlifting, Olympic lifting, and CrossFit. Physical fitness has remained and integral part of his life, fueled by his competitive spirit that has driven him to engage in a diverse array of races and competitions spanning over four decades.
